Chairman's Feedback on the Monthly Survey of Retail Sales, July 2008

(香港訊,二零零八年九月一日) – 就政府公佈二零零八年七月份的零售業銷貨額臨時統計數字,香港零售管理協會主席關百豪先生有以下回應:

  1. 七月份的零售數字與協會預期情況相若:雖然目前本港的失業率是過去十年新低,但市民消費意欲受到外圍經濟氣候、本港股市樓市持續低迷、通脤高企等不明朗因素影響,消費者普遍都較為審慎,當中尤以食品、超市、甚至高價貨品如珠寶首飾、鐘錶等都受到嚴重影響,零售量錄得負增長。經濟環境惡劣,零售商在高成本壓力下,紛紛促銷,包括提早減價等。
  2. 而剛過去的八月份,適逢是四年一度的奧運會,國內旅客受京奧賽事所吸引,訪港人數明顯減少;而本港市民亦多留在家觀賞或重溫賽事,令本港八月份的晚市(一般的消費黃金時間)變得特別淡靜,對各零售類別,包括飲食、便利店、服裝、百貨、甚至化妝品等均有不同程度的負面影響,當中尤以開幕式及閉幕式兩晚的情況為甚。
  3. 值得注意的是八月份,體育用品及服飾的銷情較去年同期為理想,相信是京奧狂熱效應之一。
  4. 此外,八月份的零售銷售亦受颱風北冕及鸚鵡所影響,市面在該兩天都較為淡靜。
