HKRMA Strongly Urge Landlords for Retail Rental Relief
The HKRMA is Strongly Urging all landlords to follow the Government's rental relief measures by giving a rental reduction to retailers to help them survive through the current retail crisis. A lot of retailers are having cash flow problems and are in danger of closing down and more people facing unemployment. Retailers are desperately in need of this temporary rental relief from their landlords. However, it appears to date that retailers are NOT getting their helping hand from the major retail property owners and landlords as most still defer the subject matter.
The Hong Kong Retail Management Association (HKRMA) has earlier called for a temporary reduction of 50% for 3 months to include related management fees and air-con charges to help retailers survive through the current retail crisis as a result of the outbreak of SARS.
The Association would like to also take this opportunity to thank the Government for taking the lead in granting rental relief to the retail tenants of the Hong Kong Housing Authority.
The HKRMA strongly urges other landlords to follow and pull through this extraordinary time together with their retail tenants.
